Public Gardens | 5 Most Stunning Landscapes in Los Angeles
Did you know LA has some of the most stunning landscapes in the US?
Los Angeles is known for many things. The chaos of the urban jungle, to the glitz and glam of Hollywood – “garden oasis” doesn’t usually come to mind. The truth is that Los Angeles is home to some of the most stunning landscapes in the country. Many of which are hidden gems nestled in the heart of the concrete sprawl. In this article we’ll look at the top 5 most stunning public gardens in Los Angeles.
The Central Garden, created by artist Robert Irwin, lies at the heart of the Getty Center. The 134,000-square-foot design features a natural ravine and tree-lined walkway that leads the visitor through an extraordinary experience of sights, sounds, and scents. The Getty Center is one of Los Angeles most precious landmarks- and a must see for tourists and natives alike. The best part about these beautiful public gardens is that you don’t need to leave the city to see them! Rarely over-crowded, especially on week days, the Getty Center is great for stopping in to have a picnic, or simply just to look at the beautiful views of LA, the Getty Center is a great place to enjoy some relaxing recreation and the cool california breeze.

4. Exposition Park Rose Gardens
Coming in at number 4, is the Exposition Park Rose Garden. One of the most well known public gardens in the country, Exposition park is truly a heart warming, and beautiful place to visit. You will usually find weddings happening amidst the endless, winding rows of beautiful and fragrant roses. the only draw backs to this park are that it is seasonal- so it is open only a few months out of the year. And, they seem to have to pretty strict rules about taking photos in the park. Despite that, it is a sight worth seeing, and one of the most beautiful places in California.

3. Angel’s Gate Recreation Center – Stunning Landscapes
I’m not really sure if it is possible to put into words what the view is like from the top of Angel’s Gate Recreation Center. The spectacular panoramic views of the coastline and Santa Catalina Island from the grassy cliffs of this 64-acre park are breathtaking. There is a children’s play area and a basketball court as well, so there is something to do for the whole family. Sunsets here are out of this world. More a public park than a public garden, this area still makes our top 5.

2. Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens
The Huntington park Botanical Gardens are one of my favorite public gardens in LA. It is a bit of a drive to get there, but once you’re there, the views make it all worth it. Its vast jigsaw of botanical gardens are, arguably , the most glorious in the entire Los Angeles region. The 207 acres of gardens, 120 acres of which are open to the public, are divided into a variety of themes, each of which are worth exploring.
As an added bonus, with your admission, you are also able to see the art collections. Although the library is not open to the public ( it is only open to researchers), the rest of the park is full to the brim with activities and things to see. It is impossible to see all of the attractions in a single day- and that is okay because you will want to go back once you have seen the expertly designed landscapes.
